Does One Bad Cranberry Ruin the Whole Bag?
Just pop out any soft ones you find and keep the rest dry and refrigerated to stay fresh.
Other signs of spoilage include an off-putting sour smell.
A healthy cranberry will be firm, bright red, and smell fresh.
If you notice several moldy or mushy cranberries throughout the bag, its best to discard the entire batch.
Burke says it’s possible for you to also tell if cranberries are fresh with a simple float test.
Always rinse cranberries before usingbut wait to do so until youre ready to use them.
