Are Spider Plants Toxic to Pets?

The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center does not classify spider plant as toxic for pets or humans.

In fact, it includes spider plants on its list of 11pet-friendly plants.

It is not uncommon for pets to vomit plant material once or twice.

The ASPCA advises, The consumption of any plant material may cause vomiting and gastrointestinal upset in pets.

Cats are attracted to plants with long leaves that move easily in air currents.

It is thought to be related to their hunting, playing, and entertainment behaviors, says Wismer.

When roots appear, you could cut the plantlet from the parent and replant it.

Spider plants hail from South Africa, where they grow outdoors as herbaceous perennials.

Just be sure to bring your spider plant indoors before temperatures get below 50F.
